Has my great, […] great grand father been an APE?

Since Darwin questioned the truthfulness of the bible his supporters and these who follow God’s word have been at war. Who can convince the people?

For almost everyone the question, how life came into being, is very central, so it is extremely important not just to listen to what someone says, but also to research on the other side, to compare evidence and ideas. I must confess that I find most of the Creationists’ arguments little convincing. Most of them do not bear deeper examination.

Let me come back to the points I mentioned earlier:
  • The age of earth and Universe…
The big bang theory is difficult to comprehend, especially for the majority of people who have not studied any science. However there is evidence, which supports this theory.  Young-Earth Creationists use the fact that this theory is so inconceivable, to demonstrate how absurd the evolution theory is (in fact it has NOTHING to do with evolution).
Scientists use several independent methods to calculate the age of the universe or the earth. Creationists assume that the bible is completely reliable and fact. To measure time they add the lifespan of characters mentioned in the bible until the time of Jesus’ birth.
The Question about the age of the earth is very essential for most Creationists. The University of Minnesota also released a study revealing that high school and college students are more likely to believe in evolution if they accept the fact that the earth is 4.5 billion years old.
Fossils of long extinct dinosaurs seem to be a key problem for Young-Earth supporters but they argue that they used to live alongside Man before Noah’s Flood killed most of them. To support their model and to demonstrate that Creationism and science does not have to disagree, they open museums and the like.
  • Are transitional fossils missing…?
The claim that there are no transitional fossils between species or classes of animal life is wrong. Of course the fossil record is not complete and might never be, but we have enough evidence that evolution took place, even in the human history (like Lucy and Ardi).

  • Can complex organs evolve…?
It sounds plausible that a designer could have created complex organs but evidence now proves that they CAN evolve. If we look at early fossils or simple modern life forms, we also can see how they developed from very basic to highly complicated structures.

  • So what about morals…?
The need of a religion to maintain moral is NOT a reasonable evidence for the truth of its doctrine. I
also do not see a problem in answering the four questions of life without god.
It is also debatable  if religion really does make you a better human? During my research I discovered an interesting YouTube video. The man holding this lecture is Dr. Kent Hovind, also known as Dr. Dino; a Young-Earth creationists and now in jail

I do not mind that my early ancestors were apes; I actually think ancestors who evolved from tiny protozoa all by themselves are quite honorable. Creationists like to argue: “Do you want to decent from a monkey?” Well… Do YOU want to decent from a lump of mud?

Who created Who?

Did God create us all or did the Bible create God?

It was about 150 years ago when Charles Darwin published his book “On the Origin of Species”, provoking an enormous dispute between science and church. He claimed all life forms we know today came into being by evolution and shared a common ancestor. His theory also included humankind, suggesting not god formed us but mere natural processes. Not all of Darwin’s contemporaries – including genuinely scientists – were ready for this step yet.

This was not the first time church had been confronted with new scientific theories, which contradicted the bible. In the early 17th century Galileo Galilee argued that not the earth but the sun was centre of the universe. The inquisition forced him to recant and put him under house arrest for the rest of his life. Nowadays we know that Galilee’s claims are true and even the church cannot deny this fact anymore.

Recently the Vatican admitted that Darwin’s theory about Man descending from apes is probably right. To maintain the institution’s popularity it seems necessary to “update” occasionally and find a way to “install” modern elements, so Christians do not loose faith when confronted with conflicting but convincing scientific evidence.

But not everyone follows this example. Worldwide Creationists can be found. They might not share the same religion but all of them are convinced that life was created by a supernatural power – in the case of Christianity: God designed the world, as we know it today.
Some major points of discussion are:

  • The age of earth and universe
The most scientists assume that our universe is over 13 billion years old and came into being through what we call “The Big Bang”. For the age of the earth they estimate about 4.5 billion years. A large group of Creationists, the “Young-Earth Creationists” insist that god formed both about 6,000 to 10,000 years ago.

  •         Transitional Fossils
Darwin predicted that many fossils of transitional forms will be found, which show us how organisms evolved. Evolutionists have found such fossils but creationists doubt their authenticity and interpretation.

  •       The complexity of life and organs
Creationists do not believe that complex organs such as eyes or the brain could have evolved just by chance, as Evolutionists say. For them it is beyond question that a supernatural force must have designed them.

  •       Morals
On both sides the answers to the four great questions in life are essentially different. Creationists complain about a lack of moral in evolutionists.

Which camp provides the best evidence?

Let the battle begin!

Hi, everyone!
Well, today I will start my iWrite Blog about creationism and evolution. Just let me say a few words before I start my argument.
I understand that this topic might be a bit controversial for some readers. However I certainly do not intend to offend anyone - If I do I am sorry, but I merely try to show the evidence I could find for both sides.
For everyone who does not know too much about this topic yet, I put up some useful YouTube videos!
Of course your opinion and any advice is most welcome! Let us see where this discussion is leading us!
